By now we trust you figured out what a Dirndl is (if not, back to the BASICS). But what is a Dirndl Flugtag? Dirndl are not only fashionable, but also tons of fun. And what could be more more fun than to put on your most comfortable Dirndl and jump into a lake (or any larger body of water for that matter), competing for prizes and local fame, based on acrobatics, fashion and style.
By now, there are dozens of these events every year in Austria, women, men and kids join in the fun and compete. The most famous among them is the Goessl Dirndl Flugtag. See for yourself, this Saturday, June 16 at 5pm in Vienna at the Wiener Badeschiff (a floating pool on the Donaukanal near Schwedenplatz). Rain Date is June 17.
